The story, as the sources tell it

While searching out Braj’s lost tirthas, he first brought Revati Raman, Dauji, to light at Unchagaon and built a temple. Then, on Brahmanchal hill at Barsana, he brought Radha ji’s vigraha to light and had the temple established there. Source: History Pandit

He is held to have given Radha the name Lado. He called Her Lado, Ladaiti and Ladli, and that is why the Barsana temple is called Ladli Ji’s temple. Source: Vivek Dutt, newspaper article

The story as Maharaj Ji tells it will be added here soon, in his own words.

The line of seva

Narayan Das Goswami’s descendants are Shriji’s sevayat Goswamis today. The Bhatts of Unchagaon are regarded as their gurus: the sevayat Goswamis take kanthi diksha from this line, and only then serve in the temple.

So this is more than history. It is a living guru line through which the ways of Ladli Ji’s worship pass from one generation to the next.

The Radha Yantra

The Radhashtami rites inside the sanctum include puja of the Radha Yantra that Narayan Bhatt Ji established, and his line performs it. Source: Vrindavan Today

Radhashtami, before dawn

Before the doors open, his line performs the rites inside the sanctum. They begin with the Mool Shanti Yajna, for peace and blessing on the festival. As Goswami Shri Krishnanand Bhatt ji describes them, they include:

  • Niji Garbha Griha Puja, inside the sanctum.
  • Puja of the Radha Yantra Narayan Bhatt Ji established.
  • Sapta Ghrita Matrika Puja.
  • Ladli Ji’s niji abhishek, with panchamrit.
  • Aarta, also called Utsava Aarti.

The whole sequence takes about two and a half hours. Around 4 am the doors open, and the public panchamrit abhishek follows.

In 2026 these rites were performed by Goswami Shri Krishnanand Bhatt ji. Source: Vrindavan Today
